I started woodcarving in the Boy Scouts, in the early 1960's mostly carving neckerchief slides and a few hiking staffs. After leaving the Boy Scouts I did not carve again until 1993..... It was while I was attending the Kalamazoo Valley Woodcarvers Show, displaying my Pyrography that I saw some carved sticks it was love at first sight..... The Monday following the show I went to the local woodcarving supplier and purchased "Tom Wolff's book Carving Woodspirits and Walking Sticks" I have been carving canes and walking sticks every since .....
In 1978 I started wood burning my hottest items were wood burnings on Canoe Paddles and Gunstocks... When I started carving in 1993 I decided to start carving on gunstocks as well as carving sticks... Now I not only carve gunstocks I also wood burn the hair and trees on all my gunstocks....
